How To Clean CD's
Last week I discovered a full CD holder with soggy CD's. Another casualty of the flood that I didn't catch earlier. Anyhow, the CD's survived---and I can live without the liner notes.
I sent out an email to friends asking how to clean CD's. Three people responded with the same instructions.
A little bit of dish detergent and water to clean--don't rub in a circle, wipe straight across. Rinse with water and towel dry with a towel that won't leave lint.
Teen Logic
Yesterday when I was leaving the grocery store, I overhead part of a conversation between two teen girls (my guess is 13-14 years old).
"I don't think I'm getting married--ever. Boys lie."
Kid Logic
I was relaxing in the whirlpool spa at the Coralville indoor pool after swimming laps. As I guzzled the bottled water I brought with me, a little girl watched intently. When I put the bottle down she said, "You were drinking water in the pool. That seems so silly."
The Flood
The place where I am living in
Iowa City had a water issue last Friday. Pretty much all of my stuff that was on the floor was submersed in 2 inches of water--this included filled boxes from moving. As a result, life has been a little chaotic this past week and I have a lot of stuff drying out.
The rooms that didn't get water were the two bedrooms, bathroom and hallway to the bathroom. I was blissfully ignorant about the situation until the toilet didn't flush and I walked into the kitchen/greatroom/living room (around 6:45AM). I went from confusion to shock in a few seconds.
I called my landlord (and friend) Dwight from my cell phone. He was over in a few minutes. We both missed work that day.
All the water was pumped out by 11AM and the cleanup ensued. The stuff that got wet is just that, stuff. However, I did have some emotional moments with wet photo albums. Note: wet Polaroids do not make it.
